Every super-hero must have a female reporter in his life, and so Hydrogen Guy and Deuterium Boy have Lola Lakefront-Property. Lola is an investigative reporter for the Maple Ridge Gazette whose assignments frequently intersect with our Hydric Heroes. When she first started out, her ambition was to get to the Real Truth behind Hydrogen Guy and Deuterium Boy. Now she's not so sure that's a good idea - every time she's convinced that they've topped themselves with their latest delusion, she winds up in the middle of it and it turns out to be far too true. Unfortunately for her, she usually finds her experiences with the Covalent Crusaders too bizarre for a morning broadsheet. Our heroes, particularly Hydrogen Guy, love to harass her. Is it just because she becomes exasperated so nicely, or does Hydrogen Guy have some sublimated attraction for her? This issue recently became a bit more complicated, as it was revealed that Lola is good friends with Jim Evans' steady sweetie, Kate Nereid. The two met at the gym not long after Lola came to Maple Ridge from Boston (where she had worked for the American Imperial Times). |
