Dumnoric is the sole remaining practitioner of necromancy, the sorcery of death. His teacher was the Dark Mage Savadini, who has now forsaken the black arts and retreated to the world of dreams. At heart he is a scholar, and proclaims himself a rational man. Dumnoric sought to put necromancy on a scientific basis, but found it could not be done. He now believes that "magic" is that which violates the laws of thermodynamics. He continues to develop these ideas, while pursuing his quest for supreme power.

Dumnoric is currently missing - it is believed that he was somehow absorbed into the dark currents of magic he was manipulating when his control was broken by the Ruler of Elendil. Details are very sketchy.

Lionel, our continuity editor, would like me to point out that the spelling of Dumnoric's first name may be with either one or two f's, depending which of the three official languages (Portugese, English or Welsh) of Welsh Guiana one is starting from. Two f's is English or Welsh, one f is Portugese. Thus any inconsistency early in the text is explained.
